1) What data we collect

We collect the minimum amount of personal data needed to operate the site, respond to messages, and understand how visitors use our pages. The exact data we collect depends on what you do on the site, your browser settings, and whether you accept cookies in the cookie banner.

Data you provide directly

  • Full name (if you choose to provide it in a contact form)
  • Email address (required for contact replies)
  • Phone number (optional, if you choose to provide it)
  • Message content (for example, recipe questions, correction requests, partnership inquiries)

Data collected automatically

  • IP address (usually in server logs and for security and fraud prevention)
  • Browser and device information (browser type, device type, operating system, language preferences)
  • Usage and behavioral data (pages viewed, time on page, approximate referral source, button clicks) when analytics are enabled
  • Cookie and similar identifiers as described in this policy and our Cookie Policy

Data we do not intentionally collect

SaborPatio is a cooking and recipe website. We do not ask for sensitive categories of personal data such as health information, political opinions, religious beliefs, precise location data, or payment card numbers through our standard site forms. If you include sensitive data in a message, we will treat it as part of your message and use it only to respond, unless we are required to retain it for legal reasons.

2) How we collect data

We collect data through a small set of channels. Each channel is tied to a purpose that is relevant to running a recipe website and supporting visitors who contact us.

  • Web forms: When you use the contact form on /contact/, we receive the details you submit (name, email, optional phone, and message).
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies for essential site preferences and, if you consent, for analytics and advertising measurement.
  • Server logs: Like most websites, our servers automatically log requests to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
  • Analytics tools: If enabled, we may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure aggregated usage patterns. If enabled for marketing measurement, we may use the Meta Pixel to understand ad performance and build retargeting audiences based on site interactions.

You can control cookie-based collection through the cookie banner on the site. If you reject cookies, we will not set optional analytics or marketing cookies from our banner-controlled tools. Some essential functions may still rely on necessary cookies or local storage for basic site preferences.

3) Legal bases for processing (GDPR Article 6)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws require a lawful basis for processing personal data. Even though SaborPatio is a US-based company, we apply these principles when applicable.

Consent (Art. 6(1)(a))

We rely on consent where required for non-essential cookies and similar technologies, including analytics cookies and marketing/advertising cookies. Consent is requested through the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent by changing your browser settings and by clearing cookies, and by using the cookie banner choices where available.

Contract (Art. 6(1)(b))

When you contact us and request a response, we process your email and message content to take steps at your request, such as answering a question, addressing a correction, or handling a policy request. This is not a paid service, but the processing is necessary to provide the communication you initiated.

Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f))

We process limited technical and security data (such as IP address in server logs) to operate and secure the website, troubleshoot issues, prevent fraud and abuse, and maintain service reliability. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we assess the impact on your rights and use safeguards such as access controls and limited retention.

In some cases we may need to process data to comply with legal obligations (for example, responding to lawful requests). Where this applies, the basis is typically legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

4) Why we use your data (purposes)

We use personal data for specific purposes tied to providing a reliable cooking website and responding to visitors.

  • Site delivery and performance: serve pages, load assets, and keep the site stable and secure.
  • Customer support and communication: respond to messages sent through /contact/ and keep a record of the conversation for follow-up.
  • Analytics and product improvement (consent-based where required): understand which recipes and guides are useful, improve navigation, and reduce confusion for visitors.
  • Advertising measurement and retargeting (consent-based where required): measure ad performance and show relevant reminders (for example, when someone visits recipe pages). We do not use ads to target people based on sensitive personal categories.
  • Fraud prevention and security: monitor for abusive traffic, spam submissions, and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Legal compliance: comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms.

5) Retention periods

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, and then delete or anonymize it. The periods below describe our typical retention practice; some data may be retained longer if needed for legal compliance or security investigations.

6) Sharing and processors

We share personal data only with service providers that help us operate the site and deliver requested communications. We do not sell personal data. Service providers act as processors and are authorized to process data only as needed to provide services to us.

Categories of processors we may use

  • Hosting and content delivery: infrastructure used to serve web pages and store site files.
  • Email provider: to receive and send messages from the contact form.
  • Analytics provider: Google Analytics 4 (GA4) if enabled and permitted by your cookie consent.
  • Advertising/measurement provider: Meta Pixel if enabled and permitted by your cookie consent.
  • Spam and security tooling: systems that help protect the site from automated abuse and suspicious traffic.

If we add or remove major processors, we will update this policy. For cookie-specific details and the role of consent, see /cookie-policy/.

7) International transfers

SaborPatio LLC is based in the United States. If you access the site from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, your personal data may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Some of those countries may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, and additional measures where relevant. If a transfer is to a country with an adequacy decision, we may rely on that mechanism. You may request information about applicable safeguards by emailing [email protected].

8) Your rights and how to exercise them (GDPR)

Depending on your location, you may have rights over your personal data. If GDPR applies, these include the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

Access and portability

You can ask for a copy of personal data we hold about you and, where applicable, request a portable version. Email us with enough detail to identify the data (for example, the email address you used on the contact form).

Rectification and deletion

If your information is incorrect, you can request corrections. You can also request deletion when we no longer need the data, subject to legal requirements and legitimate retention needs.

Restriction and objection

You can ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will review and respond based on the context and legal requirements.

Withdraw consent

If you consented to cookies, you can withdraw consent by clearing cookies and changing your cookie choice using the banner where available. You can also use browser controls to block cookies.

To exercise any rights, contact us at [email protected]. We may ask for verification to protect your account and prevent unauthorized access. We aim to respond within a reasonable period and in line with applicable law.

Right to complain to a supervisory authority

If GDPR applies and you believe our processing violates data protection law, you have the right to file a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are in the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). If you are in the EEA, you can contact your local data protection authority.

9) Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We also use similar storage such as local storage to remember certain preferences, such as whether you accepted or rejected cookies in our banner. We categorize cookies into strictly necessary, analytics, and marketing. You can learn more details about each category and how to manage them in our Cookie Policy.

Strictly necessary

These help the website function and remember essential settings. Example: storing your cookie consent preference so we do not ask you on every page load.

Analytics

These help us understand which pages and recipes are useful and how visitors move through the site. We use this data in aggregated form to improve navigation and content.

Marketing

These may be used to measure advertising performance and show relevant ads to people who previously visited our site, depending on your consent and platform settings.

Cookie durations

Cookie duration varies by type. Some cookies are session cookies that expire when you close your browser. Others persist for longer periods (for example, weeks or months) depending on the tool and your browser settings. Our banner stores your choice in local storage until you clear it. For cookie-level details and examples, see /cookie-policy/.

Managing cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking cookies or deleting existing cookies. If you block necessary cookies, some site functionality may not work as intended. You can also review our cookie banner choices on your next visit after clearing local storage and cookies.

10) Children’s privacy

SaborPatio is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact [email protected] and we will take steps to delete the information where appropriate.

11) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal data. No online system can be guaranteed to be fully secure, but we work to reduce risk by limiting access to data, using secure service providers, and retaining data only as long as needed.

12) Policy updates

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the site, legal requirements, or service providers. If changes are significant, we may provide notice on the website (for example, via a banner) and, if appropriate, via email for people who have an ongoing relationship with us through contact or subscriptions. Continued use of the site after the effective date means you have read the updated policy.
